Math for Democracy

Mathematics is one of the most powerful tools we have for investigating the world around us.  But those in power take advantage of the fact that many people are intimidated by mathematics.  They shout numbers, knowing that no one will question their accuracy.  They tweet statistics, knowing that no one will question their significance.

Enough is enough.

If our democracy is to survive, a mathematically literate population is essential.  In these pages, I’ll take apart claims, facts, and evidence, and provide you with the tools necessary to evaluate them; to see what’s important and what’s not; and what to look for when a number is thrown at you.
